About the Procedure
Strictures are abnormal narrowings of the esophagus or other parts of the digestive tract, often caused by scarring, inflammation, or acid reflux, which can make swallowing difficult. Dilatation uses a balloon or graduated dilator passed through an endoscope to gently widen the narrowed segment and restore normal passage.
